Your Community Mosque in Dewsbury
Masjid As-Salaam is a historic Grade II listed building located at 4 New Street, Earlsheaton, Dewsbury WF12 8JJ. Originally built in 1845 as a Victorian schoolhouse, the building was transformed into a mosque in December 2022 by the Earlsheaton As-Sabeel Trust (Registered Charity 1200544).
We offer daily Jamaat prayers including Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha, with Jumu'ah prayers every Friday. Our facilities include two prayer halls, dedicated education rooms, and accessible parking for visitors.
Our Services
Islamic Education & Community Support
Madrassah As-Salaam provides quality Islamic education for children, offering Quran recitation, Tajweed, Hifz classes, and Islamic Studies with qualified teachers. Classes run Monday to Friday from 5pm to 7:15pm.
Our Food Bank operates on the third Sunday of every month from 11am to 12:30pm. Open to all community members regardless of faith or background.

Jamaat Schedule for Dewsbury
Masjid As-Salaam offers five daily congregational prayers. Our Jamaat times are carefully calculated for our location in Earlsheaton, Dewsbury to ensure accuracy throughout the year.
Daily prayers include Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha. Times adjust seasonally to follow Islamic guidelines for prayer timings.
Jumu'ah Friday Prayers
Weekly Khutbah & Congregational Salah
Join us every Friday for Jumu'ah prayers. The Khutbah (sermon) begins at 12:30pm followed by congregational prayer. Please arrive early to secure a space in our prayer hall.
Our Jumu'ah services attract worshippers from across Dewsbury and surrounding areas including Batley, Mirfield, and Wakefield.
The Story of Masjid As-Salaam
From Victorian Schoolhouse to Community Mosque
Masjid As-Salaam occupies a Grade II listed Victorian schoolhouse built in 1845. For over 175 years, this beautiful heritage building has served the Earlsheaton community in Dewsbury.
In December 2022, the Earlsheaton As-Sabeel Trust transformed this historic building into a mosque, preserving its architectural heritage while creating a spiritual home for the local Muslim community.

The building features original Victorian architecture including arched windows, stone masonry, and period details. As a Grade II listed building, we work closely with Historic England to preserve these features.
Our mission is to serve as a centre for Islamic worship, education, and community support while honouring the building's rich heritage.
Heritage Building Restoration
Preserving Our Grade II Listed Mosque
The restoration of Masjid As-Salaam is an ongoing labour of love. As caretakers of this 1845 Grade II listed building, we are committed to preserving its Victorian character while adapting it for modern worship.
Our restoration work includes roof repairs, stone restoration, window conservation, and interior improvements, all conducted in accordance with Historic England guidelines.

Find us at 4 New Street, Earlsheaton, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, WF12 8JJ. We are easily accessible from the M1 motorway and local bus routes.
On-site parking is available for visitors. The mosque is wheelchair accessible with facilities on the ground floor.

Opening Hours & Facilities
The mosque is open daily for all five prayers from Fajr to Isha. Visitors of all faiths are welcome to explore our beautiful Grade II listed building and learn about Islam.
Facilities include separate prayer areas, wudu facilities, and a community room. Please remove shoes before entering the prayer hall.
Madrassah As-Salaam
Islamic Education for Children in Dewsbury
Madrassah As-Salaam provides quality Islamic education for children aged 5 and above. Our curriculum includes Quran recitation, Tajweed, Islamic Studies, and Arabic basics.
Classes run Monday to Friday from 5:00pm to 7:15pm during term time. Our qualified teachers create a nurturing environment for spiritual and academic growth.
Our Curriculum
Quran, Tajweed & Islamic Studies
Students learn Quran recitation with proper Tajweed rules, memorisation (Hifz) for interested students, and essential Islamic knowledge including Fiqh, Seerah, and Aqeedah.
We also offer Hifz programmes for dedicated students wishing to memorise the Holy Quran. Enrolment is open throughout the year subject to availability.

Supporting Families in Dewsbury
Our Food Bank operates on the third Sunday of every month from 11:00am to 12:30pm. We provide essential groceries and household items to families in need across Dewsbury and surrounding areas.
The service is open to all community members regardless of faith, background, or circumstances. No referral is required.

Collection & Delivery Options
Visit us at the mosque during food bank hours for free collection. Home delivery is available for those unable to travel. Contact us to arrange delivery.
We also welcome food donations from the community. Drop off non-perishable items at the mosque during opening hours or contact us to arrange collection.
